campus viewDear Parents/Guardians,

The Johnson City Central School District is sending you a message about a viral trend that has been happening in schools nationwide. The trend is called "Devious Licks." It is a trend on TikTok in which students are challenged to post videos of themselves stealing, vandalizing or showing off items they have stolen. For the month of September, students were encouraged to vandalize restrooms at schools. We did experience some vandalism in our restrooms at the high school that would be consistent with the challenge.

During the month of October, we have become aware of more challenges that may be associated with "Devious Licks." These challenges include smacking a staff member on the backside, kissing your friend's boyfriend/girlfriend at school, showing private parts in the hallway, hitting someone in the chest, vandalizing school signs and making a mess in the cafeteria.

We all take a tremendous amount of pride in our school safety, facilities and environment. If anyone participates in the challenges that are being sent out, they may face significant consequences. These consequences could lead to a suspension from school or legal ramifications from law enforcement.

Our students have had a great start to the school year and we are proud to be with them each and every day.

We would appreciate it if you would take some time to talk with your children about the challenges that are becoming viral with "Devious Licks." We want our students to rise above these challenges and show what it means to be a true Wildcat.
