Wildcat Closet

The high school's Wildcat Closet, started and maintained by Kim Thomas for many years and currently run by teachers Mrs. Bierworth and Mrs. Geetter, is a community endeavor designed to provide students-in-need with anything they may find themselves looking for: new clothes, shoes, deodorant, school supplies, and even formal wear for special events. Supplied entirely by donations of new and gently used items, the Wildcat Closet is a Johnson City tradition that takes many hands to manage. To that end, student volunteers have recently stepped up to help keep the Closet in shape while simultaneously earning community service credit hours to fulfill the requirements of National Honor Society, Key Club, and their Government classes.

Many students have committed to volunteering at least one free period a week folding clothes, organizing items, and generally keeping the place tidy. In just a few short weeks, these students have completely reorganized the closet, sorting countless pieces of clothing by color and size and continually managing the upkeep of this space.

In addition to the students volunteering their time, the Closet has also enjoyed fresh new lighting courtesy of JC's maintenance department, donated racks secured by Mrs. Korducavich, and countless donations of quality clothing items, backpacks and other school supplies, and a wide array of hygiene items donated by our very own community members.

For those interested in contributing to the Wildcat Closet, we are always seeking donations of hygiene items in particular--deodorant, shampoo, soap, feminine products, etc. Donations can be sent or dropped off at the high school, care of Mrs. Bierworth or Mrs. Geetter. Students interested in earning community service hours can also see either Mrs. Bierworth or Mrs. Geetter for more information.
