Ag in the Classroom

Representatives from Cornell Cooperative Extension-Broome County brought a calf to the elementary school May 20-21 as part of the Ag In the Classroom program. Students visited the farm animal outside and then took part in a classroom project making butter.

Agriculture in the Classroom is a grassroots program coordinated by the USDA and the National Agriculture in the Classroom Organization. Its goal is to help students gain a greater awareness of the role of agriculture in society.

The program has run twice a month at JC this school year and is made possible courtesy of Cornell Cooperative Extension-Broome County, Broome-Tioga BOCES, New York Agriculture in the Classroom and a generous grant from New York State Senator Fred Akshar.
