Dr. Joe DervayWeather permitting, May 30 will be a historic day for spaceflight that will see Apalachin native Doug Hurley serving as one of two astronauts blasting off to the International Space Station. We're proud to note a JC connection to the flight. Johnson City graduate Dr. Joe Dervay is serving as the flight physician. Dervay graduated from JCHS in 1976 and his impressive resume includes graduating from Cornell and Upstate Medical University, serving as an ER physician at Baylor Rice Hospital in Houston, and being a career Naval reserve flight surgeon and NASA flight doctor.
